Citisense is a traffic design consultancy and traffic data collection company delivering innovative transport solutions to public and private sector clients across the UK.

We are offering a full-time, permanent role within our Technology & Data Team, focused on turning survey and monitoring data into clear, well-designed reports for councils and other clients. This is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, asking the right questions of it, and communicating findings in a way that’s easy for non-technical stakeholders to understand.

About this role
As a Reporting & Data Analyst, you will take data from our transport surveys and monitoring projects and turn it into polished, professional reports for local authorities and other clients. This isn’t just about extracting numbers. You’ll be interrogating the data, understanding what it’s really telling us and why, and presenting it in a way that helps councils make informed decisions about their schemes.

This role suits someone who is naturally curious, enjoys problem solving with data, has a good eye for visual design, and can write clearly for a non-technical audience.

You will

• Analyse transport and survey data, asking the right questions to understand the story behind the numbers, not just what they show.
• Build clear, well-designed reports and dashboards for councils and other clients, combining data, maps, and narrative.
• Use QGIS to produce mapping outputs and spatial analysis to support reports.
• Build and maintain dashboards and visualisations in Power BI.
• Work extensively in Excel, including Power Query, to clean, structure, and prepare datasets.
• Use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Illustrator) or Inkscape to polish report layouts and visuals where needed.
• Validate and quality check data before it goes into client facing reports.
• Translate technical findings into plain English narrative that non-specialist readers (e.g. council officers, elected members) can understand and act on.
• Work closely with the wider Technology & Data Team and survey teams to understand context behind the data being reported on.
• Support the creation and maintenance of reporting templates and documentation.

You will be working within a collaborative technology team and will receive mentoring and support as you develop.

What we’re looking for

• Strong analytical skills and a genuinely curious mindset, comfortable asking “why” and digging into data rather than taking it at face value.
• Strong written communication skills, able to turn analysis into a clear, well structured, professionally presented report.
• Strong Excel skills, including Power Query, essential.
• Some knowledge of the UK transport industry. This could be direct experience with transport surveys, or a working understanding of how local authority transport schemes come together (e.g. Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, School Streets, active travel schemes, parking or kerbside management schemes). You don’t need deep technical expertise, but you should understand the basics of what goes into these schemes and why councils commission them.
• Good attention to detail and quality control when handling data destined for client facing outputs.
• Good organisational and time management skills, able to manage multiple reports and deadlines.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable

• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator), Canva or Inkscape for report design and visuals.
• Basic scripting/automation experience (e.g. Python) to speed up data preparation.
• Experience with GIS based spatial analysis beyond basic mapping.
• Familiarity with transport planning terminology and processes (e.g. STATS19, Manual for Streets, LTN guidance).
• QGIS experience.
• Power BI experience.
